SCOTTISH ALPINE SKI TEAM 2011/2012

The Scottish Alpine Ski Team is the national representative ski team for young Scottish athletes. Working below the GB squad, the Scottish Team gives young and upcoming athletes the opportunity to race and train at a high level on a worldwide stage. Generally consisting of athletes between the ages of 15 and 22, the Scottish Team consists of 3 separate squads.

FULL-TIME SQUAD

This squad is for athletes who have completed their education and wish to concentrate on training full-time for an international ski career. Generally older athletes, the squad are based for most of the year in Europe and compete regularly in competitions. In past years this squad has worked closely with their English counterparts and is seen as the first step in being selected to the British Alpine Ski Team.

2011/12 members: Charlie Guest, Cammy Gunn, Lewis John, Scott McWhirter, Jo Morrison, Euan Ryan, Ali Stang, Alex Tilley.

YOUTH SQUAD

Also known as the part-time squad, this squad consists of younger athletes not yet ready to undertake a full-time training programme. The squad still trains for a considerable time abroad each year, and attends competitions internationally including the Scottish and British Champs held at Easter in France.

2011/12 members: Kate Angus, Benedict Barlow, Xavier Barlow, Cara Brown, Katie Guest, Paul Henderson, Euan Macfie, David McIntosh, Helen Nelson, Graeme Price, Nicole Richie, Hope Whitelaw.

The following athlete has also been invited to train with the Youth Squad on a camp by camp basis - Peter Glasgow.

COLLEGIATE TEAM

This part of the national team is for those members who are continuing their studies at college or university, but meet the criteria to benefit from the national team set up.

The selection process for the Scottish Alpine Ski Team 2011/12 has now closed. The programme is designed as a performance pathway to support talented athletes to progress talented athletes in maximising their potential and achieving progression to the GB Team and international competition.
