English Alpine Championships 2009 – Bormio

Monday 16.2.09 FIS Giant Slalom

Once again the weather was sunny and only as the afternoon progressed did a few clouds appear. The temperatures were not as low as on Sunday so, with a start area in the sun, waiting for a turn to race was reasonably comfortable.

The snow on the Stelvio World Cup Downhill piste was again hard and well prepared and whilst slip crews were used the racing line stayed firm with few ruts.

Entries for this year’s FIS races have been very high with both Sunday’s Slalom and today’s Giant Slalom being oversubscribed in the Male races. Once again it was the ladies who started the event and the men followed. First runs started at 9.50 and the second at 13.50. Racing finished at 16.30. Prize giving followed in the finish area.
